beacon hill co-living
residential co-living
Beacon Hill Coliving explores what becomes possible when housing is designed to feel more like a small village than a collection of separate units. The project makes space for shared meals, creative work, and everyday gathering, supporting a rhythm of life that feels more connected and less isolated.
This work reflects a way of approaching design that understands housing not as isolated objects, but as part of ongoing relationships—between people, place, and the everyday conditions that shape life over time. It is grounded in the belief that value is not singular or immediate, but formed through multiple layers: care, time, shared experience, and the ways places are lived in and sustained.
Within this, the project holds space for both shared life and personal retreat, making room for gathering while also honoring quiet, rest, and privacy. These dual needs are not treated as opposites, but as part of a shared spatial condition that allows different rhythms of life to coexist. Designed and built by Ten Penny Studio, with its principals also participating as one of the three families, the project reflects a shared commitment to learning how to live well together over time.
Taken together, this approach reframes housing as something alive and unfolding, shaped through daily life and ongoing relationships. It is designed to support conditions where people and place can continually renew one another over time, strengthening connection rather than depleting it. In this way, housing is understood as part of a larger whole—woven into neighborhood life, responsive to its surroundings, and contributing to the fabric of everyday experience.
