about
We are a design+build firm located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle, WA. Established in 2007, we actively pursue the passionate practice of thoughtful architecture while providing creative and responsible building solutions.
You are at the center of all we do. From designing for your goals and seeking opportunities that help improve your life to creating spaces that help make life work for you, we are passionate about meeting your needs through our work.
We started this firm because we love making what we design. We can take your project from the initial conception all the way to the end of construction. Our team is filled with trained architectural designers - designing in the office and building in the field. This offers some advantages: the ease of communication between our designers and construction crew and the ability to make design decisions in the field often leads to an expedited design process.
We value sustainability and we strive for sustainable design by:
• extending an existing structure’s useful lifetime for another 100 years
• intentionally designing at appropriate scale
• reducing the material impacts of projects
• designing for natural light
• building community within homes, neighborhoods and cities through our projects and volunteer work
Designing and Crafting Spaces for a Better Tomorrow
Every project, big or small, begins as an opportunity for lasting change in your life and surroundings. Whether you're planning a small addition to your home or envisioning a modest urban co-housing community on 1-2 single family lots, Ten Penny Studio grounds every step of the design process in the unique purpose of your vision. Our approach looks beyond function and aesthetics. We help you consider how each design choice ripples outward, impacting you, your community, and our shared world.
We see our design process as an interweaving—building connections, intertwining ideas, and nurturing your vision along the way. Through this, we uncover the clearest ways for your project to enhance daily well-being, strengthen community bonds, and harmonize with the environment. Together, we’ll craft spaces that foster personal and collective growth, all while preserving the core elements of a vibrant home
